This is a large and very good example of a rare replacement by Mimetite after Cerussite from Tsumeb. Before replacement, it was a reticulated Cerussite with three, obvious twin components with the largest measuring approximately 6 cm in length and the other two 4 and 3 cm, respectively. There is also what may ba smaller, sidecar Cerussite pseudomorph near the base. It seems the original Cerussite on this small cabinet piece has been completely replaced by Mimetite with small, 1 to 3 mm, almost needle-like, yellow Mimetite crystals covering almost the entire surface of this handsome piece. There are streaks and knots of orange to brown-orange iron staining locally on the surface. An excellent Mimetite after Cerussite pseudomorph from Tsumeb! This was in the world-famous Tsumeb collection of Marshall and Charlotte Sussman in Chicago in the late 1990s, sold to us, and then on to Stretch at the time. It remains a relatively large and rare example of this habit. Part of an educational set, with these additional items: Mimetite (SYP25-14a) and Cerussite (SYP25-14c).
