Tucson, Arizona, USAThis miniature specimen from Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo in the Far-Eastern Region, Russia is a lovely combination piece of Axinite-(Fe) and Calcite. The Axinite-(Fe) crystals are very glassy and gemmy, have a rich deep brown colour and quite distinctive fan-like form of stacked sharp bladed crystals. At least five crystals, or crystal sprays can been seen rising up from a thin bed of massive Axinite-(Fe). Individually, the crystals reach 1.2 cm in length. The associated small, white, scalenohedral Calcite crystals are a great addition, sat on top, with gemmy, glassy terminations and whiter bodies. The largest of these reaches 1 cm in length. Ex David Hardman collection.
