Calcites from Tsumeb, either as a stand-alone species or in combination with other minerals, have produced any number of high-quality and attractive specimens. Here, the gemmy rhombs of Calcite are associated with Cuprites. In particular, one 6 mm Calcite rhomb serves as a nice display pedestal for a razor-sharp and lustrous Cuprite octahedron. Approximately 3 mm in size, this Cuprite has a hint of red when illuminated, but it is the luster and form that really carry the day to make it cute and unique. The Calcite has, in moderation, classic orange fluorescence that adds a noticeably eerie glow to the clear Calcite. This thumbnail displays well, and makes for an aesthetic combination piece for the great Tsumeb Mine. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 42091.
