A particularly choice and balanced miniature with quality and size for this price range, as well: a rich, deep-green cluster of lovely and lustrous Dioptase, one of Tsumeb's best-known and most sought-after species. This dense and striking cluster rests on a layer of sharp, sparkly, 2 mm Calcite rhombs. The contrast in color and form has definite appeal, but the real focal point of this miniature is the imposing 2 cm Dioptase crystal that rises up in the middle of the cluster. Even with the matching green around and below, this large crystal stands out dramatically. Below the Dioptase and in the matrix is a small amount of olive-green Duftite, worth noting because Duftite is one of the better-known TYPE LOCALITY species for Tsumeb. There is a small amount of wear in spots along the backs of some of the Dioptase crystals, but it has no effect on the impressive aesthetics of the presentation side. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 24901.
