Classic old Pitcher Field (Tri State District) Galena. This area covers approximately 72 square miles and contains dozens of mines. Thirty six different minerals can be found there including Galena. This specimen is formed by cubic crystals with steel-grey color and sub-metallic to metallic luster. With hoppered and skeletal facets on all sides. The Tri state area was an incredibly productive zone into the early 1960 period when it shut down. At the time these specimens were plentiful (although better pieces were always much less common). Today these are all long gone and good aesthetic material is quite rare. In excellent condition, no damage.
