Scolecite on Stilbite from Rankhamb Village, Maharashtra, India. 20th Century.
Scolecite is a zeolite mineral, and the finest examples are found in basalt deposits of India. Their delicate complexity and incredible forms make them a favorite among collectors. Here white scolecite spheres seem to explode off the matrix of lightly apricot colored stilbite crystals. With perfect composition and just the right amount of contrast it has an unprecedented aesthetic appeal.
