Calcite forms in a variety of habits and an array of colors. This is an exceptionally large example with stunning, deep-yellow color and excellent translucence. Positioned upright, with its broad, window-like face to the viewer, the crystal illuminates easily with a warm, golden glow. It’s anchored in a contrasting matrix of needlelike stibnite crystals. Steely and lustrous, they add texture and tonal contrast that further punctuates the dazzling calcite crystal.
