A gorgeous large thumbnail (or small miniature) of leaf-sheet Native Gold from the classic Romanian Roşia Montană (Verespatak) area. Light metallic burnished yellow Native Gold in the habit of crystallised sheets, hackly platelets and small single crystals pervades a matrix of translucent milky Calcite. The largest crystallised sheet, measuring to 2.6 x 2.3 cm, has a metallic silky lustre whose entire surface is covered in micro-triangular crystal faces. All the smaller sheets of Native Gold are covered in similar crystals, some better defined than those on the largest sheet. It is a beautiful example of crystallised Native Gold in miniature form and is a fabulous example from the historic and ancient mining district of Roşia Montană.
