Tucson, Arizona, USAThe combination of cubic purple Fluorite crystals partially coated in a light dusting of tiny Calcite crystals and small scattered Chalcopyrite crystals is very typical of Blackdene mine in Weardale, Co. Durham, England. This lovely small cabinet-sized example of this association comes from Arvid Pasto's comprehensive collection of worldwide Fluorite and looks similar to a smaller one featured in his 2009 book, Collector's Guide to Fluorite. The Fluorite crystals, which reach 2 cm on edge, are pale purple in colour with well-formed sharp edges and the Calcite overgrowth is preferentially developed on certain directional-related faces. An attractive smaller classic from Weardale.
