This is an extremely rich thumbnail Veszelyite from the now famous Chinese discovery at Sanguozhuang Pb-Zn mine, Dongchuan District, Kunming, Yunnan: colourful and well crystallized. This mine has, in recent years, produced the world's finest specimens of Veszelyite - copper zinc phosphate hydrate hydroxide - as spectacularly rich encrustations and individual crystals. This lovely thumbnail comprises a thin piece of Hemimorphite-bearing matrix completely coated on its upper surface with deep royal blue Veszelyite crystals aggregated as curved, serrated, blade-like masses with an attractive resinous lustre. Although the crystals are not individual or freestanding, it is the absolute richness of this rare species on this piece that is superb and under magnification it looks stunning.
