Aquamarine from a few locations in the world has a particularly strong, rich, robust color that leaps out, and makes most other aquas look pale. Aquamarine from Jos (and Vietnam, and then a few finds elsewhere) sets that standard. This is a classic Jos aqua, certainly from famous finds of the 1990s that produced a series of pockets of blue and green (emerald) beryls. Wayne purchased it in an old collection and kept it for his miniatures suite. It is complete all around and, unlike most, is actually a cluster with some pleasing aesthetics — most are simply singles. 14 grams. Laszlo Kupi photo.
