A superb and possibly unique Mexican amethyst specimen showing off both a fine doubly-terminated crystal (4 cm) AND a scepter (2.7 cm) , nearly adjacent on the same matrix! Complete all around. The combination of different crystal forms and habits of the same species on the same specimen has always amazed me, and it is worth thinking about how uncommon this is. Wayne was with me when we purchased the Miguel Romero mineral collection of Mexican minerals in 2007. This was the finest collection of Mexican minerals ever put together at one time (and the core of it now resides in the MIM Museum in Beirut). Miguel also had a few hundred other specimens, including choice miniatures, of which most people had never seen — this , among them. Wayne kept it for his part , chosen when helping me pack up that day. Laszlo Kupi photo (meant to emphasize the DT crystal, not the best display view overall — see video).
