GUDMUNDITE
As the name implies Gudmundite was first found at Gudmundstorp in Västmanland County, Sweden, and this specimen is from just that occurrence. As an iron antimony sulphide it is the antimony analogue of Arsenopyrite. Although it is known from quite a number of localities worldwide specimens from this, the Type Locality, are simply never seen for sale. This miniature specimen heralds from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) and features a large number of silvery metallic bladed Gudmundite crystals in cross section embedded within Calcite with associated Galena. The individual Gudmundite crystals reach 6 mm in length. A remarkable example from the Type Locality and recorded on an old accompanying label as from Axel R. Andersson, Uppsala preparator at the Mineralogical Institution in 1976.
