FLUORAPOPHYLLITE-(K) with Pyrite Laumontite on Calcite
This might not be your idea of a perfect Fluorapophyllite-(K) specimen but it is a classic and a Finnish rarity. The Fluorapophyllite-(K) forms 1 to 2 mm long pale sulphur-yellow crystals coating Calcite and Laumontite with minor Pyrite. This material is a really unusual colour for Fluorapophyllite-(K) and was from a one-off find, made in 1965 on the -190m level at the Korsnäs Lead mine. It comes from the David Hardman collection and although not documented it seems likely that he purchased it from Richard (Dick) Barstow during the late 1960s, as Barstow had a small supply of this material in the UK at that time. A rarely seen classic from Finland.
