Showy lustrous slightly translucent red octahedral crystals of spinel 1.7 cm in size on a white calcite matrix. In great condition. This is brightly fluorescent under longwave ultraviolet light.

Editor's note

Non-gemmy but rather smooth spinel crystals like this are not suited for jewelry but make a good and very affordable collectible thanks to its sharp octahedral shape, contrast with the white matrix (base rock) and bright color. Like a cherry on whipped cream, this is an amazing high-contrast item for a miniature collection.
