Aberfoyle mine is an abandoned tin-tungsten mine in Tasmania, closed during the 1970s. This individual Cassiterite crystal reaches 2.5 cm across, so is a good size for this important Cassiterite deposit. The crystal has sharp edges for those that are present, and displays nice growth lines, but is missing some sides due to its fairly squat habit. Nevertheless, this is a nice example of Cassiterite from Tasmania with a fine resinous lustre and very dark brown colour.
