Galena ps. after Pyromorphite
Unknown Owner
A small, but well-defined thumbnail of a Cornish classic and geochemical oddity. The famous Wheal Hope Galena pseudomorphs after Pyromorphite grace historic collections, certainly from the late 19th century. This specimen, which features slightly radiating prismatic crystals reaching up to 1 cm in length, comes from Malcolm Southwood's fine British collection, no. MS 2011.251. There is some slight bruising to parts of the specimen, but this is very rare old-time material.
