This specimen of sintered calcite has fan-shaped structures formed by sparkling calcite crystals. It was deposited in the "Galerie de Hardeval / Plateau de la Forêt de Haye", an ancient groundwater drainage system, consisting of tunnels built between 1898 and 1906, to provide safe and clean drinking water to the city of Nancy.
This is a natural crystallization even if it results from human activity.
