This beautiful very large miniature Mimetite from the classic Potosí mine, Francisco Portillo, Santa Eulalia District, Chihuahua, Mexico is an important specimen for the mine. This type of florette-like Mimetite was reportedly found during the 1970s and 1980s and this example is not only large, but in perfect condition. Quite different to many Mimetite specimens worldwide, this beauty is an almost solid aggregate of dense, organic-looking cauliflower-like growths of orange-yellow radiating prismatic crystals displaying an irresistible greasy lustre. Interspersed between the base of these crystal aggregates are small white rhombic crystals of Calcite, displaying colour zoning. This is a top-end Potosí mine Mimetite which really does not disappoint.
