Copper
Copper from this region of mid-southern China literally bootstrapped the Chinese Bronze Age, and copper is still being mined today! This specimen was from a batch of native pure copper that was hit during COVID years, and pulled off the conveyor belt to the smelter by one of my sources there. We bought the lot of over 50 kilos, and have been selling them slowly in auctions for years; but this was picked out by the source and remained in China until recently, long been kept back for its special beauty (and so he could ask me a premium after my return to China). The crystals are sharp, reticulated, geometric, and elegantly arranged so it looks like a copper-colored sea fan; with distinct shape and elegance compared to most copper we have seen from China. The crystals show off at least 3 habits, including spinel twins. It is complete front and back, and now comes with a custom lucite base for display.
