Description
This elegant, dragon-shaped cluster of acanthite is complete and perfectly formed on all sides, with no damage nor contact. It has a really special visual appeal to it that speaks for itself, with the overall shape, and sits either horizontal as shown or could be stood vertically if you wish height. It is a very old specimen (age indeterminate but they have not come out in decades and the last I saw something comparable was from finds of the early 1990s in Ed David's collection!). Most recently from the collection of NY-based collector, Scott Rudolph. Such impressive, large acanthites of this quality are quite rare for any South American locality, and this mine is known for silver specimens and rhodochrosite, with fine acanthite really only being produced rarely. So, it has extra significant for the locality, as well.
Known provenanceKnowing where your specimen comes from and who owned it adds to its story and value. Good provenance helps prove it's authentic and preserves important details about its discovery.
