NATIVE Copper$1,200.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A small but ever so classy crystallized Native Copper from the famous Phoenix mine in Keweenaw Co., Michigan. Phoenix mine opened in 1849, taking over the operations of Lake Superior mine on the Eagle River, and worked until about 1905 when it started to wind down due to dwindling reserves. Attempts by Calumet and Hecla to dewater the mine and reinstate the shaft during the late 1920s failed. This miniature specimen is full of character, with elongated spear-shaped Native Copper crystals displaying a quite deep orange to orange-red colour and historic patina. The specimen is richly crystallized in 360 degrees with sculptural growths to be seen from all directions. A stunning Michigan miniature Native Copper. Ex David Hardman collection, no. 1890.
