Vesuvianite var. Manganoan
A very strongly colored, saturated example of the rare purple vesuvianites that came out in the 1970s-1980s from the famous asbestos mine in Jeffrey, Quebec, Canada. This piece has literally stunning, intense color, more than most, with ridges fo sharp crystals to 1 cm in clusters all over, all around. While they turn up from time to time, this is a relatively large and rich example. The color is due to manganese, very unusual for this species.
