A very unusual Pyromorphite from Mexico from the little known San Luis Mine in Chihuahua; and this is one of very few good Mexican localities for pyromorphite. Numerous, small, tight clusters composed of tiny (1 to 1.5 mm) crystals of bright green Pyromorphite cover much of this cabinet plate and there is good contrast between the colorful green Pyromorphite and the white Calcite at the center. The Calcite is in small clusters of 3 to 5 mm, translucent, off-white crystals in the central area of the piece surrounded by Pyromorphite. The piece is in great condition on the display face; and has a sawn backside, where it was removed from host rock. It's quite unusual for Mexico to produce good specimens of bright green Pyromorphite like this. We obtained only one large plate of this material in the purchase of part of the Stoudt collection long ago, and recently trimmed this out of that larger mass.
