An atypical Wulfenite plate from Los Lamentos with bright orange crystals almost flush with the surface, really more reminiscent of of Wulfenite from Mezica, Slovenia. This slightly curved, bright orange plate of Wulfenite only is so unlike Los Lamentos that it made us two or three times! The crystals are are certainly bright orange like Los Lamentos, but are a little more low profile like some of the material from Mezica and are dominated by long edges of Wulfenite along the surface. Close inspection shows the crystals to be "sandwich-like" crystals that are distinctive of Los Lamentos with orange tops and bottoms with a medium brown-orange center. Crystals vary from 0.5 to 2.0 cm on edge and there is even a secondary growth of tiny (1 to 1.5 mm) Wulfenite crystals growing perpendicular to the tabular faces of the larger crystals - the previous owners say that these are twins. Ex. Stefan Stolte and Kerith Graeber collections. A very attractive and unusual Wulfenite piece from this famous Mexican locality and from the Kerith Graber collection (she almost never lets things go out!). Highly unusual. We have not seen this kind of twinning but I am inclined to trust her knowledge here on the matter.
