Here is a very fine malachite after cuprite pseudomorph from the Chessy copper mines in France. It is a single sharp, perfect crystal of a classic complex habit for the original cuprite that was found at this locality in the 1800s and these are now considered classics. The surface shows an almost complete alteration to malachite. This is a sharp floater crystal of unusually high quality from the Jack Halpern collection. Chessy is one of the world's finest localities for cuprite, and this is a good example of the species showing replacement by malachite which is classic for the locale. JH 827, purchased from the legendary dealer and Jack's major dealer mentor at the time, Walt Lidstrom in the 1960s!
