Known as "Levant roses" this rosetted form of paper, or Schieffer spath Calcite is a Cornish classic from Levant mine and sometimes the neighbouring Geevor mine. This fine large miniature specimen comes from Mike Brooke's collection of British minerals. Calcite rosettes form over 75% of the specimen, which comprises a core of massive vein Quartz and minor Chalcopyrite, around which the Calcite 'blooms' as a 1 cm wide crust. The Calcite is pale cream to pale pink in colour and has only very small areas of wear. The individual Calcite blades reach over 1.5 cm in length.
