Tucson, Arizona, USAIn 2004 a new discovery of magnificent Brookite and Rutile was made in the Kharan District of Balochistan, in mid-western Pakistan; so it’s great to have this fine cabinet specimen in our update. If you visit this locality on mindat you will see a spectacular, rugged mountainous landscape, yet not exactly welcoming terrain. It appears as a rocky, barren region with precipitous cliffs and sharp peaks, not a place for the fainthearted collector, so ruling me out for starters! Covering a jumbled, vuggy matrix of granular milky Quartz, translucent milky white blades of crystallised milky Quartz host several magnificent blades of cinnamon red to deep reddish clove brown Brookite crystals. The largest of these measures 2.5 x 1 cm by approximately 0.5 mm thick. Fabulous Brookite crystals from a rare and seldom encountered locality.
