Calcite var. Cobaltoan Calcite

Mild candy pink micro-crystals of Cobaltoan Calcite richly coat a rugged shallow vug across the surface of a gossan Quartz matrix. This most attractive miniature is from Tsumeb mine in Namibia and is a fine example of this cobalt-rich variety of Calcite. The colour is perhaps a little paler than typically encountered, but not to its detriment. Rhombic crystals average about 1 mm across and when examined closely, have a bright and glassy lustre.\n
