Tucson, Arizona, USAExcellent Willemite crystals of the variety Troostite compose the bulk of this large miniature from one of North America’s most famous mineral localities, Sterling mine at Ogdensburg in the Franklin Mining District of New Jersey, USA. Embedded in the Willemite are two black octagonal Franklinite crystals; a patch of white Calcite and a roughly 3.5 cm all-round mass of dark reddish-brown Zincite. The much larger of the two Franklinite crystals measures 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm. The Willemite fluoresces lime green and the Calcite vivid scarlet under both LW and SWUV, although the SW produces a much brighter fluorescence, especially in the Willemite. An excellent Ogdensburg specimen.
