This small thumbnail of a Native Gold nugget measures 11 x 8 x 4 mm and weighs 2 grammes and is from Sonora Gulch, Hayes Creek, in the Whitehorse mining district of Yukon, Canada. The colour is a rich, coppery-gold, just what one hope to expect in a nugget, while crevices and shallow surface vugs are infilled with dark brown former matrix. Sonora Gulch is a placer deposit which lies close to a bismuth-tellurium vein system, referred to in the literature as the Tetradymite vein. A great small nugget of Yukon Gold for your collection.
