The Sanguozhuang Pb-Zn mine, Sanguozhuang, Dongchuan District, Kunming, Yunnan, China has, in recent years, produced the world's finest specimens of Veszelyite - copper zinc phosphate hydrate hydroxide. This miniature specimen shows the richness of what has been found at that mine. The matrix consists of oxidized Quartz veinstone containing remnant Galena. Coating the Quartz is a thin layer of grey-white Hemimorphite upon which is a dense coverage of deep, electric blue Veszelyite crystal sprays with a fine resinous to greasy lustre. The Veszelyite forms clustered aggregates of sharp bladed crystals producing a bow-tie shape, sometimes with a twist in the centre. The sprays reach 5 mm in diameter, with some aggregated, but most scattered, allowing some of the greyish Hemimorphite to form a backdrop to the spectacularly colourful and lustrous Veszelyite crystals. There is minor damage to the Veszelyite around the edges of the specimen and in two small areas on top, but this provides an even more vivid electric blue colour. This is an extremely rich Veszelyite: colourful, dramatic, and well crystallized.
