Although this miniature Galena from Tsumeb has a appearance, it is a decently robust specimen. With no attached matrix, the Galena forms several different crystal habits from flattened broad prisms to distorted octahedral forms. Galena from the Tsumeb mine in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia almost always displays natural etching on the prism faces together with patterns of reticulated gridlines. The latter dominate the faces of the flattened prism. Crystallised Galena was never plentiful at Tsumeb and if this is something you are still looking for to add to your collection, it is a good and interesting example.\n
