Cerussite on NATIVE Copper
Unknown Owner
A really different and unique Tsumeb specimen of naturally etched Cerussite crystals, some twinned, bound together by micro-crystalline Native Copper. The largest of the Cerussite crystals measures 2.2 cm wide, this particular crystal, a V twin divided down its centre by two re-entrant faces. All the Cerussite is colourless to pale smoky grey and appears to be gemmy internally, this masked by outer frosted etched faces. The etching patterns on all prism surfaces is exquisite and would provide plenty of scope for detailed study. The Native Copper filling the gaps between the Cerussite varies from a dark chocolate brown patina through to fresh bright copper, all with a sharp, hackly texture.\n
