Tucson, Arizona, USAMottramite, lead copper vanadium hydroxide, is a rare species which can occur in a number of different forms. At Tsumeb mine - one of its best known occurrences - it is known to form murky green to khaki green stalactitic and botryoidal masses and dark, almost black, crusts of lustrous microcrystals. This small cabinet specimen is unusual in presenting a glossy botryoidal form. Usually, the botryoidal forms are matt, or coated in sparkling microcrystals, but to have a smooth glossy surface is very different. An intriguing display specimen, attractive in its own peculiar way.
