Diopside

The dense white marble at Fargon Meeru in the Koksha Valley of Afghanistan is host to excellent Diopside, occurring as dark bottle green crystals with a deliciously waxy lustre. This fine miniature displays a 3.0 x 1.5 x 1.3 cm terminated Diopside prism with a perfect yet asymmetric termination. The entire crystal is opaque with a rounded, slightly melted appearance yet in some of the more translucent patches around the termination, does become apple green when backlit.
