Tucson, Arizona, USAA particularly fine crystallized specimen of Manganite from the classic German location at Ilfeld, Thuringia. Well-formed lustrous black striated prismatic crystals of Manganite measuring to 1.3 cm with characteristic pinacoid terminations form a shallow dome-like aggregate that sits wonderfully for display. Although Manganite is known from many localities around the world, none compare to the quality of crystals from Ilfeld. The deposit at Ilfeld was discovered during the late 18th century, but many of the finest specimens were collected a century later. A substantial, cabinet-sized specimen of the highest quality, from the Type Locality.
