From a new find at an older Chinese locality! Wenshan last produced these fabulous yellow Smithsonites between 2003 and 2005, but has been generally forgotten about by collectors until 2020 when a new crop of bright yellow Cadmium-bearing Smithsonites were found. This wonderful small cabinet has a beautiful, bright yellow color caused by traces of cadmium, not unlike the well-known Cadmium-bearing Smithsonites from Tsumeb, Italy, and Mexico. Looking closely, the surface of the Smithsonites are made up of small botryoidal crystals that are flashy, shimmering, and velvety at the same time. The Smithsonite even has an interesting, orange-pink fluorescence that is certainly unexpected, but welcomed nonetheless.
