Lustrous and translucent, purple-lavender colored crystals of Creedite, to 1 cm in length, totally cover the display side of this specimen. Purple Creedites are far rarer than their orange cousins. Orange Creedite from Mexico is abundant on the market today from more modern finds, however, fine purple Creedite, like this, is far less available. These were found only a few times, more than 30 years ago now in the early to mid-1980s. It is from the F. John Barlow collection (#3459) and he had among the best of them at one time. Many of these are pale, but this has very rich and top color saturation and just a touch of iron staining locally for contrast. Additionally, the crystals on this particular specimen show more separation and freestanding sharp form than most pieces usually do.
