This is a stunning yttrofluorite-coated calcite. It has the best yttrofluorite crystals of the lot (of three sharp and different habits!) and they are uniformly covering the entire specimen. The large modified calcite (3.6 cm across) sitting on top of smaller scalenohedral calcites is pristine and there's no damage on any of the other calcite crystals. The bottom of the piece is sawn so it can sit flat and display the sparkling purple-covered calcite to optimal angle; and as a bonus which gives a unique look at the brecciated calcite vein that these specimens formed in. Yttrofluorite isn't commonly purple and is usually found as a "pond scum" coating on minerals. This new find from China is a total surprise, and simply makes for a beautiful combination and style. This is something really new, for the year 2021. We saw hundreds of them in China and bought only a few dozen. This, for our taste, seems among the better in the size range and is miraculously complete and 360-degrees all around.
