Lustrous, intensely colored dioptase crystals to 1.5 cm richly adorn this sparkling matrix of calcite. A combination of dioptase on calcite is the literal most famous combo from Tsumeb, most people would say. However, the calcite is so rarely sparkling. Here we have both contrast and the sparkle of both species at high luster. Most crystals are 1 cm and smaller, although some are larger, but the unusual quality here is that many are nicely isolated on the calcite and not clumped together as usual. This is a mid-1980s specimen, of a classic find, in a nice display size and price range.
