Bright yellow to green botryoidal Cadmium-bearing Smithsonite covers a roughly crystallized Calcite from this newly reworked mine that was hardly mined for almost 2 decades. The snowy white underlying Calcite provides great contrast and is gemmy, allowing a light to shine through and illuminate the yellow-green, Cadmium-bearing Smithsonite. As an added bonus, the Calcite is incredibly UV reactive, turning an almost neon pink color under long wave UV light. This is atypical compared to other finds at this locality that had the botryoidal texture with brighter yellow color but are less sparkly. The specimens with the crust of Cadmium-bearing Smithsonite covering Calcite have better-than-average luster, making them look resinous or waxy compared to the typical specimens from Wenshan.
