What a stunning, gemmy, deep cherry red, modified Spinel octahedron from the famous Pein-pyit Zone in Burma! This Spinel has a glassy luster and an interior that is very gemmy with only a moderate amount of veiled inclusions. When backlit, the rich cherry red color glows and its transparency is very evident. Faces and edges are sharply formed with wonderful geometry that adds to the aesthetics of this gorgeous single crystal. There is one contact at the bottom where it was attached to another crystal, probably another Spinel. It has an intense red fluorescence and a mass of 6.2 grams.
