This is a fine, large, lustrous and translucent, doubly terminated, rose-red crystal of Rhodonite, measuring 5 cm in length accompanied by several smaller Rhodonite crystals. The big, commanding Rhodonite crystal is translucent, rectangular in form and relatively thick at 1.7 cm with rich color and the other four smaller crystals clustered on one side are also translucent and well formed with one of the crystals being cleaved. There are also two, lustrous, black Franklinite crystals, one is relatively well formed with a rounded appearance and the other on the backside is partially complete. They measure 2.0 and 1.5 cm, respectively. This is an excellent, rare and colorful old piece from Franklin. Ex. Robert Trimingham and Paul Patchick collections (both major San Francisco area collectors active in the mid to late 1900s). Note that the color on this is PARTICULARLY RICH in room fluorescent light, and shows pale in LED lighting. A significant specimen in the size range, and dating from the late 1800s or early 1900s.
