Wavellite
Wavellite specimens are usually heavily intergrown clusters or individual balls, this piece has some of both. The lower half is defined by isolated spheres on matrix with the negative space between the Wavellite providing a dramatic contrast. The radiant upper half is showcased by a large 1.5 cm sphere with connected spheres wrapping aesthetically over the top. The Wavellites are translucent, lustrous, well-crystallized and a wonderful lime-green in color. The majority of the spheres are complete with only a couple of broken spheres present which doesn't detract from display. They actually show the radial fibrous growth habit as well as a possible inclusion or replacement in the bottom half of larger broken sphere. A great example of the quality of material that Mauldin Mountain can produce.
