Purple and almost totally transparent, this Burmese Spinel is a rare thing of beauty. It is almost eye-clean and has a rich, royal purple color and this could easily be cut into a fine gemstone... but we won't! It is sharp overall, really only slightly waterworn with only a very minor amount of rounding along the octahedral edges. It is pristine except only two tiny dings. It is a full thumbnail display size and absolutely limpid and clean with no need of strong backlighting, such that it shows gem clarity just looking at it in room light. This color is even more rare than the famous blue spinels, and almost never seen in a fine crystal, making this one of the more rare gem treasures in the Larson Burma collection This beauty has a mass of 2.2 grams.
