This is a rare crystallized gold nugget, as they call it, is from the old Mother Lode District of northern California. The Mother Lode gold belt is known to be the most productive and best-known mining districts in California's gold country. This wonderful example has numerous sharp crystals, showing some hoppering and patterning to give dynamic visual interest. While most gold from here is indeed in nugget form, rolled and shapeless in general, this is a nicely crystallized specimen that happens to be found in the lodes where nuggets are usually found - and is therefore is much more rare! 9.89 g.
