Smithsonite
A few pockets of fabulous blue smithsonite and aurichalcite were found in the summer of 2021 at Yanga Koubenza with rich color saturation, wonderful luster, and interesting forms. This sparkling specimen has an unusually deep , robust color to it with a slight bit of darker teal blue, almost a slight green tint to it compared to others. It stands out to the eye. We had the pleasure of obtaining a select lot of high graded examples from this novel find to offer to our customers! This small cabinet example from the lot features small botryoidal masses of glittering blue-green smithsonite crystals, wrapping around sections of matrix to create small vugs over the front. A beautiful, affordable, fine smithsonite, similar to finds at the famed Kelly mine!
