This cabinet specimen from Wenshan has a thin veneer of greenish Cadmium-bearing Smithsonite partially covering a semi-transparent Calcite cluster in one area. The scintillating Cadmium-bearing Smithsonites are tiny, less than 1 mm crystals that completely cover a few of the Calcite crystals. The barren areas of Calcite exhibit an etched surface where the Smithsonite was coving it at some point, but has since experienced dissolution, yet still retains some luster on the faces. This is one of the larger pieces from this find.
