This is a gorgeous, seemingly single crystal that is actually a double-crystal, of Brazilianite from the original 1940s-era find at the Corrego Frio pegmatite in Brazil! This is type locality material, very different from any find of the species that came since then. In 80 years, nothing has eclipsed these original finds for gemminess and color. These extraordinary Brazilianites from this type locality for the species are highly sought-after by collectors and this particular piece has all of the characteristics you could want in a fine specimen for the species. It has the classic and vibrant yellow-green color, glassy luster, and it's mostly gemmy and has textbook crystal form! This exquisite miniature is really composed of one larger and one smaller crystal essentially parallel growth, one that is 3 cm in length and the other 2.4 cm. Both are gemmy around the edges and somewhat turbid at their centers, for wonderful effect actually. There is a portion of an Albite crystal on the back along with just a little contacting. This is an outstanding Brazilianite at a mass of 11.9 grams. Formerly in the collection of the late and great, amazing curator and mineral publicist, Dr. Fred Pough (1907-2006). I had this from him back in the 1990s, sold it, and it came back again several decades later. As a miniature, it is a choice example with a little more style than the usual single crystal. Absolutely irreplaceable, these are such special crystals with a special color that, if you see in person, you will understand better why it is so unique. There is no other mineral with this color.
